ENORMIS of Erie, Pa performs quality window tinting for it’s customers.
Drive Cooler
High Quality window films are designed to reject up to 60% of the total solar energy, making your vehicle cooler.
Plus, ENORMIS window tint helps cut annoying glare reducing intense bright spots on sunny days and blinding headlights at night.
Protects Interior
Window tint is like sunscreen for your automobile, rejecting up to 99% of all ultraviolet rays. ENORMIS automotive window films shield against premature leather, vinyl and fabric discoloration and fading to protect your investment.
Protection From the Sun
Window Tint shields both UVA and UVB ultraviolet rays. According to the American Academy of Dermatology, there is a direct link between more time spent driving an automobile and a higher incidence of left-sided skin cancers. Although all types of skin cancer increase with exposure to unprotected skin, particularly common among drivers is a form of melanoma that is caused by cumulative sun exposure rather than the more common form of melanoma that occurs from intense, intermittent sun exposure.
State Law§4524. Windshield obstructions and wipers
(b) Obstruction on side and rear windows.–No person shall drive any motor vehicle with any sign, poster or other nontransparent material, including ice or snow, upon the side wings or side or rear windows of the vehicle which materially obstructs, obscures or impairs the driver’s clear view of the highway or any intersecting highway.
(e) Sun screening and other materials prohibited.–
1. No person shall drive any motor vehicle with any sun screening device or other material which does not permit a person to see or view the inside of the vehicle through the windshield, side wing or side window of the vehicle.
It is the opinion of Enormis that most police officers follow the reasonable State Law above. However, some Police officers are citing passenger cars for any window tint. An officer may use the information below from Penndot. There is no automotive film on the market that would comply with 70% light transmittance.
Penndot FACT SHEET Table X
Passenger Cars Must Have 70% Light Transmittance on the WINDSHIELD, FRONT SIDE WINDOWS & WINGS, REAR SIDE WINDOWS & WINGS, and REAR WINDOW. Basically Penndot Says you are NOT allowed to tint a CAR.
Trucks & Multi-Purpose Passenger Vehicles (2) Must Have 70% Light Transmittance on the WINDSHIELD, FRONT SIDE WINDOWS & WINGS, and there is NO REQUIREMENT for the REAR SIDE WINDOWS & WINGS, and REAR WINDOW. Basically Penndot Says there is NO REQUIREMENT on rear windows and you are TOTALLY ALLOWED to tint your SUV, MPV, and Truck as long as the windows are behind the driver.
(2) For the purpose of this fact sheet, multi-purpose passenger vehicles are defined as those which are built on a truck chassis or are specifically designed for occasional off-road use.
VEHICLE SUN SCREENING
On September 28, 1996, The Department adopted regulations regarding the use of window tinting (sun screening) on vehicles operated on Pennsylvania highways. These regulations eliminate the sun screening issue from the safety inspection procedure. However, vehicle owners who do not remove sun screening materials which exceed the light transmittance requirements indicated below may be stopped and cited while operating their vehicle on the highway.
The following is designed to assist you in determining what level of sun screening is acceptable under the new regulations. The percentages listed below represent the total minimum light transmittance permitted. For example, if the minimum light transmittance noted is 70%, this means 70% of the light hitting the window must pass through the window.
Medical exemptions are available for the use of colorless sun screening products which filter incoming ultra violet light.
Questions regarding sun screening materials may be directed to Kris Singer at (717) 783-9292. Exemption application requests and questions concerning certificates of exemption may be directed to Lori Lubic at (717) 783-5837.
