How Many Keys Start Your Car?

Sunday, November 28th, 2010

It amazes me to no end. I just can’t believe how many customers buy a preowned vehicle and get one key! If you or someone you know is going to buy a new/used car I offer this advice.

Do NOT drive the car off the dealer lot until YOU GET 2 keys or at least a “We Owe Slip” from the dealership!

If you only have 1 Transponder key to start your vehicle:
The vehicle will NOT ACCEPT other key or remote start codes! Only dealerships with expensive computers can program you a 2nd, extra key! (average price $100 and By the Way, ENORMIS has the GM and Ford computers).

If you have 2 working Transponder keys that start your vehicle:
YOU have the power to program extra transponder keys and *techs can teach the vehicle’s computer the remote start codes.

*When installing a remote start on a Dodge, Chrysler, Ford, Lincoln, Mercury, Mazda, and some Mitsubishi vehicles 2 keys are generally needed when installing a remote start. ENORMIS can install a remote start on a Ford, Lincoln, Mercury, Mazda vehicle equipped with only 1 key; ENORMIS’s Ford Computer will have to be used and this will increase costs and time.

Attn: ENORMIS Smart Start Customers in Erie, Pa

Monday, November 15th, 2010

Smart Start allows you to use your phone like a remote controlLike everyone else, we have been experiencing a slow system operation but the service was restored on November 13 around 3:30PM PDT, with the system returning to normal response times (latency) by 4PM. Although the system was not ever 100% off-line, it was slowed down substantially and that prevented our customers from being able to send any commands from the app, or in some cases, being able to log into the app. Web services such as the Consumer Service Portal and dealer installation portals were still working but with delays.

The primary cause of the slowdown was alerts polling by older BlackBerry apps. These are the apps that were originally downloaded from Directed’s web sites, prior to the launch in App World.

We’ve turned that feature off in order to eliminate the slowdown. This means that BlackBerry users will not receive any Smart Alerts for the next week or so while a permanent solution is put in place.

We will have more to say about the permanent fix later , but please be aware aware of these two facts:

1) System performance is back to normal and very likely will be materially improved from what we’ve experienced over the past few weeks

2) BlackBerry users will not be able to receive Smart Alerts until we’ve updated the apps and migrated them to those new apps.
